The U.S. Department of Justice announced that government contractor Brandon Glisson, government official Lawrence Eady, sales executive Scott Reefe, and consultant Antwann Rawls, have admitted guilt over their roles in a fraudulent federal IT procurement scheme involving kickbacks and inflated contracts that resulted in at least $1.3 million in U.S. government losses, reports SC Media.
Such a scheme entailed Alpha Greatness Omega, the company controlled by the defendants, obtaining under-the-table IT service contracts, including those for the U.S.'s intelligence community, in exchange for kickbacks and bribes to government officials, according to the Justice Department.
Both Glisson and Eady could face up to 15 years in jail for their bribery charges, while Reefe and Rawls could face up to 20 years and five years imprisonment, respectively, for their conspiracy to defraud the U.S.
"These guilty pleas underscore the grave consequences of engaging in bid-rigging and bribery in government IT procurement," said Char Yarbrough, assistant director at the FBI's Criminal Investigative Divsion. "The FBI remains vigilant in identifying and holding accountable those who exploit the system for personal gain, ensuring fairness and transparency."
