SC Media reports that the Institute for Critical Infrastructure Technology (ICIT) launched a new eight-member Task Force aimed at evaluating vulnerabilities and other risks.

The task force will address the risks and vulnerabilities that occur due to mounting IT and cybersecurity consolidation brought upon by cloud advancements and a move toward cost reduction and user experience improvements.

Aside from addressing such risks to critical infrastructure — as observed in last year's Microsoft Exchange Online compromise that stemmed from various Microsoft security failings — the ICIT Task Force, which is co-chaired by ICIT CEO Cory Simpson, will also work on ensuring the continued benefits of IT and cybersecurity consolidation as part of a report due in December that will be presented at a Washington, D.C. event.

"We have assembled an extraordinary group of people to help tackle a complicated and multifaceted challenge in our digital ecosystem," said Simpson of the task force, which also includes Brett Freedman, Edna Conway, and Marene Allison.
