Apple has unveiled macOS Sequoia 15.0.1, which addresses the initial Sequoia release's compatibility issues with Microsoft, SentinelOne, and CrowdStrike cybersecurity tools, SC Media reports.

Apple said these issues, including inhibited functionality and software crashes, stemmed from gaps between software interactions with underlying macOS modifications.

"These compatibility problems posed a significant security risk as they could potentially compromise the effectiveness of security measures and leave systems vulnerable to exploitation," said Critical Start Cyber Threat Intelligence Research Analyst Sarah Jones, who urged the immediate implementation of the Sequoia update.

John Bambenek, president of Bambenek Consulting, said these issues highlighted the need for organizations to ensure that their security tools and custom apps continue to function on new software prior to their release. "Organizations should test releases by Apple to make sure their security tools work, and then get it deployed out to their production environment if there are no issues," Bambenek added.
