Okta Updates WIC to Address SaaS Security Gaps

Okta has updated its Workforce Identity Cloud offering with new features aimed at improving protections against phishing and credential theft attacks, as well as deepfake intrusions, according to SC Media.

Secure software-as-a-service (SaaS) accounts enabling shared admin account tracking and management led the newly added Workforce Identity Cloud capabilities introduced at this year's Oktane conference.

Okta Vice President of Design and Research Kristen Swanson said the feature was added based on feedback from customers grappling with apps installed in their infrastructure.

"The complexity of managing today's tech ecosystem is absolutely overwhelming. The average company uses more than 1,000 apps. We hear from customers that these privileged accounts can fall outside the boundaries of traditional identity protection tools," Swanson said.

Other features added to Okta Workforce Identity Cloud include new governance and threat detection tools, more robust device management, immediate service integration, and disaster recovery service improvements.
