The cybersecurity services ecosystem is poised to grow 15% in 2024, recent Canalys analysis shows. That's due to increased demand for security and the evolving MSP model amidst increasing M&A activity, Canalys said.

In a LinkedIn post about the research, Canalys chief analyst Jay McBain noted that worldwide cybersecurity spending grew 9.9% in Q2 2024 to $21.1 billion. This was despite weak economic growth indicators and political disruption.

Palo Alto Networks (PANW) continues to be the largest vendor, growing at 11.2% year-over-year to capture 9.7% market share, McBain said. But there are approximately 6,500 cybersecurity vendors; he added that "We’re still waiting for a single vendor to achieve a double-digit share in this fragmented market," McBain said in the post.

PANW was followed by Fortinet, Microsoft, and Cisco (excluding Splunk). McBain recommended watching the fastest-growing vendors CrowdStrike, Zscaler and SentinelOne, as they quickly gain ground.

1. TD SYNNEX to offer Broadcom's security solutions: Distributor and solutions aggregator TD SYNNEX is expanding its exclusive distribution agreement with Broadcom for its cybersecurity and software offerings throughout the Americas, the companies said in a statement. Under the agreement, TD SYNNEX will own the complete go-to-market strategy and customer relationships for Broadcom’s Symantec and Carbon Black portfolios in Latin America and the Caribbean (LAC) and North America, (excluding U.S. state and local government and education accounts). The expansions in the Americas are part of Broadcom’s newly launched Catalyst Initiative, which leverages regional distributors to provide enhanced support to customers and increase collaboration with Broadcom’s Enterprise Security Group.

2. Appfire acquires JXL for further Atlassian integration: Appfire has acquired JXL, one of the fastest-growing apps on the Atlassian Marketplace, the companies announced this week. JXL is an all-in-one issue editor and organizer that helps users organize their Jira projects into tables, export to Microsoft Excel, and/or group issues into hierarchies via a functionally rich spreadsheet interface directly built into Jira. This acquisition adds to the Appfire suite of offerings to help teams streamline their workflows and enhance productivity, the companies said.

3. Stamus, Array team up for enhanced NDR: Network-based threat detection and response (NDR) firm Stamus Networks and app delivery and cybersecurity firm Array Networks announced two new product collaborations that will unlock new NDR capabilities as well as affordable solutions for smaller businesses, the companies said in a statement. The two joint solutions are high-speed network traffic decryption for advanced threat detection and response, which combines the Array SSL Intercept and the Stamus Security Platform to gain visibility into SSL/TLS encrypted traffic, so they can quickly detect and respond to hidden threats and intelligent traffic optimization and aggregation for high-performance threat detection and response using the Array Network Traffic Broker paired with the Stamus Security Platform.

4. AHEAD names June Yang to board of directors: Cloud and digital solutions firm AHEAD has announced that June Yang has been appointed to their board of directors to accelerate the company’s growth in hybrid cloud and AI-driven business services. Yang previously served as vice president of Cloud AI and Industry Solutions at Google Cloud, overseeing the company's entire AI product and service portfolio. Congratulations!

5. Permiso launches universal identity graph: Identity security solutions firm Permiso this week launched its Universal Identity Graph to provide risk and threat visibility for all identities, human and non-human, in all environments. The Universal Identity Graph combines Identity Security Posture Management (ISPM) with Identity Threat Detection and Response (ITDR) to provide comprehensive identity security, the company said in a statement. Permiso’s Universal Identity Graph follows all human (workforce, guest, vendor) and non-human identities (access keys, secrets, services accounts) wherever they go and ties the activity back to the identity that performed them, even when shared credentials are being used, Permiso said. By monitoring access patterns and behavioral anomalies as identities move across authentication boundaries, Permiso can track identities wherever they go and quickly detect identity-based threats in any environment.
