Synagex, founded in 2017, is based in Pittsfield, Massachusetts. The company has 16 employees listed on LinkedIn. Syangex’s expertise includes IT-as-a-service.

Ascentek, founded in 2000, is based in Lee, Massachusetts. Ascentek’s areas of expertise include desktop and server support, network design and maintenance, email systems, network security, and help desk services.

Bolstered IT Offerings

The merger aims to strengthen their combined offerings in IT consulting, cybersecurity, and outsourcing services, according to the company

Synagex specializes in cybersecurity assessments based on the Cybersecurity Maturity Model, a framework for US defense contractors. Ascentek, on the other hand, offers expertise in desktop and server support, network design and maintenance, and other critical IT services.

As Managed Services Providers (MSPs), both companies work with small and medium-sized businesses. As Synagex points out, these businesses often lack internal IT resources and are increasingly vulnerable to cyber threats, a domain where Synagex's cybersecurity expertise, particularly with defense contractors, is notable.

Acentek founder and president Ted Frederick will join Synagex as the Chief Technical Officer of the merged entity, the company said.
