Cloudability has acquired CloudMGR, an Australian company that specializes in Amazon Web Services (AWS) cloud billing and cost management capabilities. CloudMGR CEO Craig Deveson joins Cloudability as GM for Australia and New Zealand. Financial terms were not disclosed.
ChannelE2E has closely tracked both companies since we launched our site in 2015, especially as MSPs seek to manage AWS and Azure cloud costs for end-customers.
Cloudability has been working with businesses in Australia since 2012, and the CloudMGR acquisition could help the company further expand its global presence.
"Joining forces with CloudMGR allows us to better serve both our existing customer base as well as the ever-growing number of companies adopting the cloud in Australia and New Zealand," Cloudability CEO Mat Ellis said in a prepared statement.
A Closer Look at the CloudMGR Acquisition
CloudMGR offers a range of AWS products and services. It currently works with AWS for MSPs, along with software-as-a-service (SaaS), cloud consulting and enterprise businesses.
The CloudMGR solution enables organizations to develop a visibility framework to understand their cloud resource usage and the operational cost of their usage behavior.
With CloudMGR, MSPs can:
- Perform monthly analysis and offer recommendations on customers' cloud consumption.
- Provide a service to customers that includes reports, analysis and recommendations.
- Offer AWS best practices to customers.
CloudMGR is Cloudability's fifth acquisition and its first in the Australia/New Zealand (ANZ) region. The AWS Advanced Technology Partner is an early leader in the cloud automation space, according to Cloudability.
Cloudability will incorporate CloudMGR's expertise "to improve upon solutions relating to data-driven automation," Ellis said. By doing so, Cloudability may be better equipped than ever before to capitalize on the rising demand for cloud services in Australia and New Zealand.
Public Cloud Leaders Target the ANZ Region
AWS, Microsoft and Google recently announced expansion efforts in the ANZ region, including:
- AWS: Added a third Sydney Availability Zone last year.
- Microsoft: Launched Azure cloud services in Australia in 2014.
- Google: Will launch Google Cloud Platform in Australia this year.
International Data Corp. has predicted worldwide spending on public cloud services and infrastructure will reach $122.5 billion in 2017, up 24.4 percent year to year. In addition, technology research firm Telsyte has projected the total market for public cloud infrastructure services in Australia will hit $775 million by 2019, compared to $366 million in 2015.
