Increasingly sophisticated agentic artificial intelligence (AI) systems are expected by cybersecurity experts to benefit and threaten cybersecurity efforts this year, according to SC Media.
Agentic AI use will especially rise in API security as more security systems transition to behavior predictions, noted Will Glazier, director of threat research at Cequence Security. More organizations will also leverage agent-based AI rather than chatbots as they move to strengthen cyber hygiene, added Harman Kaur, vice president of AI at Tanium.
Despite its potential to improve cyber resilience, agentic AI was also regarded by Arvind Nithrakashyap, co-founder and CTO at Rubrik, to possibly lead to a greater prevalence of security flaws that could compromise cloud data.
Moreover, increased agentic AI usage could also prompt liability and accountability concerns, according to Nick McKenzie, chief information security officer at Bugcrowd.
