Widely used Microsoft, SentinelOne, and CrowdStrike cybersecurity tools and VPNs had their functionality broken by the latest macOS 15 Sequoia update, SC Media reports.
While Apple has yet to provide more details regarding the cause of the issue as well as its potential fix, SlashNext Email Security Field Chief Technology Officer Stephen Kowski said the situation presented significant security risks and should prompt security teams to promptly examine their current protective measures.
They also should adopt other real-time threat intelligence and cross-platform defense platforms, Kowski said.
"It highlights the ongoing challenge of balancing rapid innovation with maintaining seamless integration across diverse software ecosystems. Regular communication between OS developers and security vendors is crucial to minimize such incidents," Kowski added.
Qualys Threat Research Unit Security Research Manager Mayuresh Dani Organizations' urged security teams to apply the macOS Sequoia update upon certification of their vendor, deactivate major OS auto-updates, and conduct internal certification of new OS releases.
