IT and business consultancy CGI this week released its annual global proprietary research, which revealed IT execs are trying to find balance in 2024 -- walking the line between cost savings and revenue growth. The research polled 1,800 business and technology executives, of which 80% are C-level, across 21 economic sectors.

There were three major takeaways, according to the CGI research:

  • Rebalancing cost savings with revenue growth: As clients shift to a renewed focus on revenue growth, they cite the need to drive innovation, introduce new products and services, and improve the customer and citizen experience while also achieving modernization, optimization, and cost control.
  • Closer business and IT alignment: The alignment between business and IT operations to execute a shared strategy is at its highest level. CGI sees the primary drivers for this as a combination of business efficiency focus and the use of digital technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), to drive business outcomes.
  • Increasing advantages for digital leaders: Digital leaders (those producing expected results from their digital strategies) are widening the gap in achieving desired outcomes compared to those building and launching their strategies. For example, digital leaders are more successful in expanding their data strategies, modernizing legacy systems, driving business model agility, using managed services, and implementing advanced technologies, including AI.

Today’s Tech, Channel and MSP News

1. Commvault acquires Clumio: Data protection and resilience vendor Commvault has acquired Clumio, the companies said in a statement. Clumio’s data protection technology for AWS will be offered to Commvault customers to protect/recover data and cloud-native applications. Commvault will leverage Clumio AWS offerings to provide cyber resilience to next-generation apps built on AWS. This news comes on the heels of Commvault’s acquisition of Appranix earlier this year and just ahead of the company’s annual user conference SHIFT, which kicks off on October 8.

2. Amy Luby named HelpT's new chief revenue officer: Former Acronis channel evangelist Amy Luby has taken on a new role at HelpT -- the company announced this week that Luby has been named chief revenue officer. Luby’s also served as vice president of ecosystems and communities at Seceon Inc., VP of operations at CMIT Solutions, and chief channel evangelist at Acronis. Her deep experience in developing global ecosystem engagement strategies, channel management and driving operational excellence makes her an invaluable addition to Helpt’s leadership team, the company said in a statement. 3. HPE integrates Aruba Networking channel into global sales org: HPE this week announced it is integrating the HPE Channel and Partner Ecosystem organization and the HPE Aruba Networking Channel organization into a single, combined channel organization within HPE Global Sales. The change will take effect November 1, 2024, which is the start of HPE's fiscal year 2025. In a blog post about the upcoming change, Simon Ewington, SVP, worldwide channel and partner ecosystem, and Alain Carpentier, SVP, worldwide sales HPE Aruba Networking, said, "This integration takes into consideration HPE’s broader go-to-market strategy that includes having true ropes to the ground for our specialist sellers while maintaining multi-BU solution-focused conversations with partners and customers. We need both specialization and solution-selling skills to win in the market." In layman's terms, that likely means channel partners will be able to sell Aruba solutions as part of a broader solution set while still being able to get specialized and granular when customers request specific products.

4. JumpCloud launches new partner program: JumpCloud Inc. yesterday launched the JumpCloud Partner Program. This new program will incorporate a four-tiered system for JumpCloud managed service providers (MSPs) and value-added resellers (VARs), and recognizes and rewards different levels of commitment, expertise, and collaboration with JumpCloud's solutions, the company said in a statement. JumpCloud provides an open directory platform that makes it easy for MSPs and IT teams to securely manage identities, devices, and access across an organization. With JumpCloud, IT teams and MSPs enable users to work securely from anywhere and manage their Windows, Apple, Linux, and Android devices from a single platform, the company said.

5. GoTo adds software asset management solution to Resolve: GoTo has added new software asset management features for GoTo Resolve, the company said in a statement. The new GoTo Resolve Software Asset Management solution builds on the solution’s existing hardware asset management capabilities.
