Is Google’s latest move a masterstroke to outflank AWS and Azure, or a high-stakes bet on the future of AI-driven cybersecurity? According to Votiro CEO Ravi Srinivasan, the $32 billion Wiz acquisition might be both—and it’s set to transform the way cloud security is delivered.
In a candid conversation with Channel E2E, Srinivasan delves into the nuances of why Wiz’s universal cloud security platform appeals to Google—and what this means for partners, developers, and enterprises worldwide. Will Wiz remain multi-cloud? How does AI factor into the deal? And what’s next for managed service providers (MSPs) who need to recalibrate their go-to-market strategies? Sharon Florentine (Channel E2E):
“Ravi, Google’s acquisition of Wiz for $32 billion is big news. From your vantage point, what sets Wiz apart for Google—and how does it change the dynamic in cloud security?”
Ravi Srinivasan (Votiro):
“If you look at the cyber market, it continues to evolve with threat actors using AI in new and harmful ways. Meanwhile, enterprises keep doubling down on cloud and AI-enabled applications. Wiz built a platform that provides universal cloud security—across multiple clouds—so developers can embed those protections into everything they create. That’s extremely valuable for an organization like Google, which wants to reach more users in large enterprises and support different workloads and teams.”
Sharon Florentine:
“Given Wiz turned down a previous Google bid and mentioned going IPO, what do you think made this deal come together now?”
Ravi Srinivasan:
“It comes back to market opportunity and timing. When you’re growing fast—and demand for your technology is huge—you can go public or you can integrate with a major provider. Wiz likely saw that being part of Google would accelerate their reach to more customers and development teams. Google, of course, gets a proven cloud security platform to stand out among Azure and AWS.”
Sharon Florentine:
“Any parting thoughts on the acquisition’s impact for MSPs and resellers?”
Ravi Srinivasan:
“Partners who previously worked directly with Wiz will now adapt to Google’s ecosystem—some might see new opportunities by bundling Wiz into broader GCP offerings. The bottom line is, if you’re in the channel, you’ll want to update your go-to-market strategy with Google.”
