Accenture Acquires Australian Cybersecurity Consultancy BCT Solutions

Accenture is set to acquire Australia's BCT Solutions, a privately held cybersecurity and technology consultancy with a big footprint in government markets. Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.

Catherine Garner, who leads Accenture’s Health & Public Service practice in Australia and New Zealand, commented:

“BCT will complement Accenture’s Defense, National Security and Public Safety capabilities in Australia, extending the reach and scale of our business to transform bold ideas into breakthrough outcomes for our public sector clients. BCT’s impressive experience and capabilities will enable us to enhance the services we provide to government agencies in Australia — ultimately helping improve the lives of citizens.”

Matthew Gollings, Accenture’s global Defense lead, added:

“We are very proud to welcome the BCT team to Accenture, and we commend their work in supporting the local defense community. BCT is a strong match with Accenture’s values, culture and people — and we look forward to combining our skills to serve the needs of government agencies.”

Founded in 2015, BCT has offices in Canberra and Brisbane. According to the company’s LinkedIn profile, it has 44 employees. It specializes in a number of classified technology-related areas including Command and Control, Cybersecurity, Cyber Defense services and expertise. The company was founded by veterans and 87 percent of its employees are former military personnel, the company notes.

Accenture’s M&A Plays

Accenture continues to make moves on the M&A front. This was the company’s third announced acquisition of June 2019. It previously acquired Boston-based IT consulting and systems integration Bridge Energy Group, as well as Deja vu Security for IoT security testing.

These buyouts are part of Accenture’s ongoing $1.5 billion acquisition plan for 2019. The growth strategy is focused on digital, cloud, and cybersecurity opportunities and it appears to be working. The company’s Q2 revenue grew 5 percent to $10.5 billion and a net income reached $1.14 billion.
