Accenture has purchased Nextira, an Amazon Web Services (AWS) partner, for an undisclosed sum.

This is technology M&A deal number 170 that MSSP Alert and sister site MSSP Alert have covered so far in 2023.

Accenture, founded in 1989, is based in Dublin, Ireland. The company has 552,867 employees listed on LinkedIn. Accenture's areas of expertise include artificial intelligence, cloud computing and security.

Nextira, founded in 2008, is based in Austin, Texas. The company has 73 employees listed on LinkedIn. Nextira's areas of expertise include AI, cloud computing and machine learning.

The Nextira Team Joins Accenture's AWS Business Group

Nextira's employees will help Accenture's AWS Business Group drive "enterprise-wide transformation at speed and scale" for the company's customers, according to a prepared statement. They also will support the Accenture Cloud First business group, which focuses on helping organizations use cloud, data and AI to create value.

Accenture Cloud First Global Lead Karthik Narain commented on his company's acquisition of Nextira and what it means for its customers:

"We will combine Nextira's AI, machine learning and data and analytics abilities with Accenture's approach to using modern data platforms on cloud. This will deliver the actionable insights and predictive outcomes that our clients need to create new applications and services, deliver innovative customer and employee experiences and fuel their next wave of product and market growth."

In addition, Nextira CEO Jason Cutrer shared his thoughts on the acquisition and the opportunities it creates for his company's customers:

"Joining Accenture will connect our deep experience in platform and software engineering with Accenture's breadth of knowledge across cloud technologies, creating new opportunities for organizations to unlock the potential of emerging technologies to drive business value."

Accenture Invests in Zero Trust Cybersecurity Company

The Nextira acquisition comes after Accenture in May 2023 announced a strategic investment in SpiderOak, which specializes in zero trust cybersecurity solutions for next-generation space systems. Accenture did not disclose the amount of its investment in SpiderOak.

With the investment, Accenture and SpiderOak are working together to create solutions to secure communications in space, said Paul Thomas, space innovation lead for technology innovation at Accenture.

Accenture offers professional services to global organizations. The company employs 738,000 workers globally but indicated in May 2023 that it would lay off 549 workers from one of its Austin locations starting in June.

MSPs, MSSPs and other technology providers can join Accenture's ecosystem of partners. To date, Accenture has established partnerships with over 350 vendors.

Meta Description: "Joining Accenture will connect our deep experience in platform and software engineering with Accenture's breadth of knowledge across cloud technologies."
