Broadcom's channel chief role is no longer vacant.

The company said today it has named Brian Moats as the new Senior Vice President of Global Commercial Sales and Partners. Brian brings over 20 years of experience in sales leadership, channel development, and business strategy within the technology sector, Broadcom said in a statement shared with ChannelE2E. The company said his expertise will support Broadcom's efforts to strengthen the partner ecosystem and drive continued growth.

"Brian Moats has a strong background in developing and implementing successful partner strategies that deliver measurable outcomes. Before joining Broadcom, he held senior leadership positions at leading organizations where he drove transformative initiatives, strengthened partnerships, and achieved revenue growth. In his new role, Brian will focus on:

  • Strengthening partnerships to create shared success.
  • Driving growth through partners in the commercial segment.
  • Enhancing value and ease of doing business with Broadcom through tools and programs," Broadcom said in the statement.

"I am honored to step into the role of Senior Vice President of Global Commercial Sales and Partners," Moats said in the statement. "Broadcom’s commitment to the success of our partners and customers is unwavering, and I am eager to engage directly with our partners, collaborate on shared goals, and explore new opportunities to drive growth and success together."

Broadcom acknowledged the accomplishments of its previous channel chief, Cindy Loyd, who would transition into a new role within one of Broadcom’s Business Units.

"Our focus remains on strengthening collaboration with our focus partners, migrating our customers to our subscription-based offerings, while fostering innovation to achieve results. We also look forward to seeing Cindy Loyd continue to contribute to Broadcom in her new role," Broadcom said in the statement.

Loyd has been with Broadcom for more than six years. She started as vice president of global partners and global commercial sales for VMware partners in November 2023, just as Broadcom acquired VMware for $69 billion.

Before joining Broadcom, Loyd was with CA Technologies, where she worked since 1991. Her last role there was vice president of global sales and global renewal portfolio. Broadcom acquired CA Technologies in 2018.

Following the acquisition, Loyd was the highest-ranking channel executive overseeing the multiple changes in the VMware channel, including the plan to take the top 2,000 accounts direct, the termination of some partners' relationships, and price increases.

Late last year, distribution giant Ingram Micro announced it would sever its relationship with Broadcom in early January 2025. Ingram Micro told ChannelE2E that it will no longer do business with Broadcom and will have limited engagement with VMware in select regions. (Neither of these relationships is material to Ingram Micro’s business, the distribution giant told ChannelE2E.)

“For us and the more than 1,500 vendors and 161K customers we work with, the future business is focused on transforming relationships, not just transacting sales,” an Ingram Micro spokesperson told ChannelE2E.

In a LinkedIn post, Canalys Chief Analyst Jay McBain noted that Broadcom just achieved “the $1 trillion valuation plateau” and reshared his predictions from 10 months ago about the trajectory of the company following the completion of its VMware acquisition.
