Champion Solutions Group has acquired systemiC, a consulting and development company focused on IT service management (ITSM) platforms like IBM BigFix, QRadar, ServiceNow, Splunk and Nagios. Financial terms were not disclosed.

systemiC's expertise includes integrating existing security and patch management solutions to ServiceNow, according to Chris Pyle, president and CEO of Champion Solutions Group.

Among the opportunities ahead: Striving to "revolutionize" the IT Service CMDB (Configuration Management Database) market, according to systemiC CEO Frank Hansen. A CMDB essentially is a data warehouse that tracts IT installations, and the way various IT assets depend on one another.

Hansen and systemiC's team now join Champion Solutions Group. Headcount figures were not disclosed.

Champion Solutions Group: Acquisition History

Champion Solutions Group of Boca Raton, Florida, focuses on virtualization, cloud, and data management, along with security solutions. Pyle has extensive experience building, acquiring and selling IT solutions providers and service providers. He was an early mover in the recurring revenue, cloud and managed services markets. Pyle also partners frequently with ISVs (independent software vendors) and MSP-centric technology companies.

Earlier Champion Solutions Group acquisitions include:

  • The 2012 buyout of MessageOps, an early Microsoft cloud services provider (CSP). Datto's Autotask business leveraged the MessageOps technology a few years ago for CSB Boss, though I don't know if that product still exists.
  • The 2016 buyout of Midrange Support & Service Inc. (MSSi), an IBM i and Power solutions partner.

Splunk, ServiceNow Partner Ecosystems

Meanwhile, the Splunk and ServiceNow partner ecosystems have been growing rapidly -- though both companies are seeking more partners to help global 2000 and midmarket companies modernize their ITSM, SIEM and security infrastructures.

Roughly 1,300 partners attended Splunk .conf 2018 in early October 2018. The conversation included plenty of monitoring and security highlights. Meanwhile, the ServiceNow Knowledge 2018 conference in May generated considerable momentum as the company diversified beyond IT service management toward HR, customer and security operations.
