Today, we're sending congratulations to Molly Lindsay, who will become Pia's VP of marketing. In other news, solutions integrator Insight Enterprises acquires New World Tech (NWT) to expand its digital transformations and advisory capabilities, Juniper releases patches for a 'perfect 10' critical router vulnerability and insurance broker Howden reveals that cyber insurance premiums have fallen.

Finally, Infinidat last week launched its automated cyber resilience solution, InfiniSafe ACP, aimed at minimizing ransomware and malware attacks.

Today’s Tech, Channel and MSP News

1. Pia Names New VP of Marketing: AI-led automation platform Pia has named Molly Lindsay as its new vice president of marketing. Based in Tampa, Florida, Lindsay will join the team on July 8, 2024, and will oversee Pia's marketing efforts. With nearly 15 years of experience in the MSP space, predominantly at ConnectWise, Lindsay brings a wealth of expertise in product marketing and digital strategy. Her tenure includes leading product marketing initiatives for cybersecurity solutions at ConnectWise and director of product marketing at CoderPad, where she spearheaded comprehensive go-to-market strategies and facilitated rapid growth through customer-centric initiatives. In her new role, Lindsay will manage key industry events and flagship conferences in the U.S. to enhance customer relationships and expand Pia’s presence in the North American market. Congratulations!

2. Insight Acquires New World Tech: Solutions integrator Insight Enterprises has acquired New World Tech (NWT), a consultancy-led company that provides technology strategy and transformation services for both the public and private sectors, according to a statement from the companies. NWT serves large organizations in financial services, automotive, TMT and public sector and specializes in sourcing strategy and management, technical advisory services, ServiceNow solutions, business transformation, strategic roadmap development, integration enablement, business change management, and program assurance. The acquisition will expand Insight's digital transformation capabilities, the companies said.

3. Juniper Networks Releases Patches for Critical Router Vulnerability: The Register reports that Juniper Networks has identified an authentication bypass bug, tracked as CVE-2024-2973, which scored a perfect 10 rating on both the CVSS 3.1 and CVSS 4 systems. Juniper is urging users to apply patches as soon as possible. "An authentication bypass using an alternate path or channel vulnerability in Juniper Networks Session Smart Router or Conductor running with a redundant peer allows a network-based attacker to bypass authentication and take full control of the device," Juniper said in its advisory. The bug impacts Juniper's Smart Session Router, Session Smart Conductor management platform, and WAN Assurance Routers and only those that run high-availability redundant configurations are vulnerable.

4. Cyber Insurance Premiums Fall: Reuters reports that cyber insurance premiums are declining globally as organizations get better at defending against cyberattacks like ransomware, even as ransomware attacks are rising, according to a report from insurance broker Howden. Insurance premiums to protect companies against cyberattacks skyrocketed in 2021 and 2022 as the COVID-19 pandemic drove an increase in cybersecurity incidents. But premiums have been dropping in the past year, according to the annual Howden report. The cyber insurance market saw double-digit price reductions in 2023/2024, Howden said.

5. Infinidat Launches Automated Cyber Resilience Solution: InfiniSafe Automated Cyber Protection (ACP) is designed to reduce the threat window of cyberattacks, the company said, including sophisticated cyberattacks and AI-driven attacks that target data storage infrastructure. InfiniSafe ACP integrates within existing security operations centers (SOCs), security information and event management (SIEM), security orchestration, automation, and response (SOAR) software applications, and simple syslog functions for less complex environments. When one of these systems recognizes a security-related incident or event, InfiniSafe ACP triggers immediate automated immutable snapshots of data, providing the ability to protect InfiniBox and InfiniBox SSA block-based volumes and/or file systems, and “ensure near instantaneous cyber recovery,” the company says.
