DNSFilter, a content and threat filtering company, has acquired Zorus, known for its endpoint-based web filtering and user behavior analytics. The move extends DNSFilter’s core offering—AI-powered threat and content filtering at the DNS layer—by incorporating protections that start directly at the endpoint. For Managed Service Providers (MSPs), the acquisition represents a step toward a more comprehensive and adaptable security solution.
Zorus, founded in 2017 and headquartered in Tampa, Florida, has built its platform specifically for the MSP market. Its technology filters threats before DNS queries leave the device and provides detailed user behavior insights. By joining forces, DNSFilter and Zorus will offer both network-level and device-level protection, giving MSPs improved visibility and control over end-user activity across environments.
The combined infrastructure is also expected to deliver increased resiliency and availability. With DNSFilter already resolving more than 170 billion DNS queries daily—blocking over 200 million cyber threats in the process—the integration of Zorus’ capabilities will further reinforce performance and reliability for customers.
A key driver of this acquisition is the alignment in go-to-market strategies. Both DNSFilter and Zorus have prioritized MSP needs in their product design and partnerships. Zorus brings a strong track record of seamless integrations with MSP toolsets, while DNSFilter continues to evolve its platform to match the operational complexity and service expectations of the MSP ecosystem.
Deeper MSP Integration and Expanded Threat Surface
The integration is designed to be smooth and transparent, with no disruption to existing customers. The combined offering will give MSPs expanded coverage, simplified management, and a stronger foundation to protect client environments at multiple layers. Zorus’ endpoint-level protection integartion with DNSFilter’s DNS-layer security results in more comprehensive threat coverage. By filtering malicious activity before DNS queries leave the device, Zorus adds a critical layer that complements DNSFilter’s network-based defenses. This dual-layered approach enhances security for users across both on-site and remote environments, addressing modern threat vectors more effectively.
The acquisition also improves platform resiliency and availability through shared infrastructure and engineering resources. For MSPs in particular, the combined solution reflects a deeper alignment with their operational needs. Zorus’ MSP-first design philosophy, paired with DNSFilter’s existing focus on this market, means easier deployment, better integration with MSP toolsets, and streamlined management for service providers looking to scale secure offerings.
