The 20 MSP has acquired Collabrance, marking the platform MSP’s ninth deal of 2024 and 35th overall acquisition. The Cedar Rapids, Iowa-based Collabrance was founded in 2009 by GreatAmerica Financial Services to serve the office equipment sector.
While the deal’s financial terms were not disclosed, The 20 MSP’s CEO Tim Conkle said his company had its eye on Collabrance for some time.
“What really sold us on Collabrance was discovering all the little things they do to make their clients' lives easier – and all the small ways they support and empower their team,” he explained to ChannelE2E. “Quality is in the details, and Collabrance is just a well-built and expertly run organization from top to bottom.”
This is technology M&A deal number 173 that ChannelE2E and MSSP Alert have covered so far in 2024. See more than 2,000 technology M&A deals for 2024, 2023, 2022, 2021, and 2020 listed here.
'Collabrance Has A Lot Figured Out'
The company will retain its brand, according to Conkle, who sees no reason to upend things at the company.
“Collabrance has a lot figured out, so we're not going to start messing around with their core processes,” he explained. “They're keeping their name for a reason – we want Collabrance to keep being Collabrance.”
Just like other MSPs acquired by The 20, Collabrance will be given access to its support and marketing machinery. “That's where our intimate knowledge of the IT channel comes in,” explains Conkle. “They're going to make us better, and we're going to make them better.”
In addition to maintaining its branding, Collabrance’s 44 employees and nearly its entire leadership team will stay with the company.
“We had the pleasure of getting to know these individuals over the past couple of months, and they really are everything you could ask for in a partner. They've got a great vision – and we're excited to help them make it happen,” said Conkle.
A Growing Platform MSP
The 20 MSP has emerged as a platform in recent years, acquiring dozens of companies under its umbrella. As part of an ongoing series, ChannelE2E is following the rise of the platform MSP. Conkle has imagined a collaborative network of many MSPs, where owners could share wins from one company to the next. Collabrance has now been added to that network.
"They're going to make us better, and we're going to make them better," Conkle said.
