Cytracom Extends From UCaaS to Secure Cloud Networks for MSPs

Cytracom, perhaps best known for VoIP and Unified Communications as a Service (UCaaS), has extended into the network security market. The company's new platform, called ControlOne, can simplify how MSPs build, manage and secure "modern cloud networks," Cytracom asserts.

ControlOne surfaces roughly six months after Cytracom acquired OmniNet to "enable simplified and secure SD-WAN network connectivity for MSPs and their end-customers."

Cytracom ControlOne: Potential MSP Benefits

ControlOne offers at least six key benefits to MSPs and the end-customers they serve, Cytracom asserts. Those benefits include:

  1. Software Defined Perimeter: MSPs can visually build, deploy, and manage corporate networks, public cloud connectivity and SD-WAN without legacy edge appliances, the company asserts.
  2. Secure Remote Access: This is a VPN alternative that delivers always-on connectivity and eliminates lateral attack vulnerabilities.
  3. Zero Trust Security: They system default is Zero Trust Network Access combined with Device Posture Check (DPC) capabilities.
  4. Unified Threat Management (UTM): These capabilities span cloud firewall, Intrusion Prevention System (IPS), Data Loss Prevention (DLP) and web content filtering.
  5. Actionable Intelligence based on event attribution, reporting and visibility across an entire network and security stack.
  6. Security Posture Management  to enforce network security policies, prevent configuration drift, and ensure third party compliance.

Cytracom: Work From Anywhere (WFA) Simplified?

John Tippett, COO, Cytracom

In an interview with ChannelE2E, Cytracom CEO Zane Conkle and COO John Tippett reinforced the company's continued focus on MSPs. ControlOne, they noted, will allow MSPs to more easily support end-customer networks and associated security regardless of user adds, moves and changes.

ControlOne's launch is particularly timely, the duo added, because MSPs must support dynamic Work From Home (WFH) and Work From Anywhere (WFA) network designs.

Take a closer look, and "networking" isn't a new topic for Cytracom and the executive team. Tippett previously was VP of product for Datto's networking business. And Conkle has deep experience driving Cyracom's VoIP and UCaaS strategy.

Also of note: ControlOne surfaces roughly two years after private equity firm Sverica Capital Management acquired Cytracom. Fast-forward to present day, and the expanding Cytracom technology portfolio for MSPs now spans business communications, plus security and connectivity.
