Amid Symantec's buyout of Blue Coat Inc. in the cybersecurity market, Blue Coat CEO Greg Clark will ultimately lead the combined companies. But who is Clark?

The simple answer involves a healthy mix of entrepreneur and enterprise leadership experience. Indeed, Clark has started multiple security companies that have been acquired. And he has also held executive-level positions at large IT companies following M&A deals.

Greg Clark's Experience, Resume

As he prepares to shift from Blue Coat CEO to Symantec CEO, Clark will have a lengthly list of experience to lean on. His resume includes:

  • Greg Clark has served as CEO of Blue Coat and as a member of the company’s board of directors since September 2011.
  • Earlier, he was president and CEO of Mincom, a global software and services provider to asset-intensive industries, from 2008 to August 2011. ABB Group acquired Mincom in July 2011.
  • Before joining Mincom, Clark was a founder, president and CEO of E2open, a provider of cloud-based supply chain software. That tour of duty covered 2001 until 2008.
  • Earlier in his career, Clark founded Dascom, a security firm that IBM acquired in 1999. There, he served as a distinguished engineer and VP of IBM’s Tivoli Systems.
