Autotask Corp. has launched Autotask Endpoint Backup (AEB), a file backup solution may further protect MSPs and their customers from ransomware and other data threats. The move comes as major IT automation software companies continue to build out software suites for MSPs and technology service providers (TSPs).
The launch surfaced today at Autotask Community Live 2016, a conference in Hollywood, Florida, that attracted roughly 1,000 MSPs.
According to Autotask, the new endpoint backup offering can "minimize TSP costs associated with provisioning, deployment, monitoring, management, billing and reporting while providing increased business continuity for SMB/SME clients."
ChannelE2E believes the AEB offering is based on Autotask's SoonR buyout from July 2015. To be clear, Autotask is not getting into the server-based backup and disaster recovery (BDR) market. The company continues to partner with a range of companies on that front, though relations with some vendors have potentially cooled off a bit here and there.
For instance, Intronis MSP Solutions by Barracuda -- which offers BDR -- is at Autotask Community Live. But another key player, Datto, is not present. (Though I believe Autotask and Datto integrations remain in place without any issues.) As software industries grow and mature, it's not uncommon for host companies to grant or deny access to specific industry players at conferences.
