KKR and Global Infrastructure Partners are acquiring CyrusOne, the data center REIT (real estate investment trust), for $15 billion including debt. The deal, subject to regulatory approvals, is expected to close in Q2 of 2022.

This deal surfaces the same day that American Tower disclosed plans to acquire CyrusOne rival CoreSite for $10.1 billion.
Rumors about a potential CyrusOne buyout surfaced in February 2020 amid a surprise CEO resignation, and again in September 2021. CyrusOne operates roughly 50 data centers worldwide. The company supports around 1,000 customers, including approximately 200 Fortune 1000 companies, CyrusOne indicated.
