Accenture Acquires Big Data Analytics, AI Consulting Firm Kogentix

Accenture has acquired Kogentix, an IT consulting firm loaded with more than 220 big data analytics and artificial intelligence (AI) experts. Those pros will join the Accenture Applied Intelligence data engineering business. Financial terms were not disclosed.

Kogentix helps customers migrate legacy applications and analytics systems to open source big data platforms like Hadoop, Spark and Python. The company is only about three years old. Co-founders Boyd Davis (CEO), Sanjay Gogia (COO), Jai Malhotra (CTO) and Krishna Nimmagadda (President), will join Accenture under terms the deal.

In a prepared statement, Narendra Mulani, chief analytics officer, Accenture Applied Intelligence, said:

“Open source big data platforms and artificial intelligence are offering companies more opportunities than ever to become data-driven, intelligent enterprises. With Kogentix’s assets and highly skilled team of big data and AI professionals, we are even better positioned to help clients realize the value of open source analytics platforms and embed new intelligence at the core of their businesses.”

Accenture Acquisitions Fuel Growth

Those deals along with organic R&D appear to be paying dividends. Accenture's Q3 2018 revenues jumped 16 percent to $10.3 billion compared to Q3 2017, the company said in a June 2018 earnings report.
