Amazon Web Services (AWS) has acquired cloud backup and disaster recovery (BDR) startup CloudEndure, according to the BDR company's website. Multiple reports say the deal was valued at roughly $250 million.
CloudEndure, founded in 2012, has raised about $18 million million from such companies as Dell Technologies, Magma Venture Partners, Zohar Gillon, and InfoSys.
CloudEndure's BDR and cloud migration services support AWS, Microsoft Azure, Google Cloud Platform (GCP) and VMware. The company has also been known to support OpenStack and Oracle Cloud.
CloudEndure: Multi-Cloud Focus?
ChannelE2E has reached out to AWS to see if CloudEndure's cross-platform cloud support will remain in place, or if AWS will re-position the technology as mainly an AWS-centric migration, data protection and BDR solution. We'r also checking to see if CloudEndure will integrate with AWS Outposts, a technology that extends Amazon's cloud capabilities to on-premises systems.
At present, CloudEndure prevents data loss and downtime due to human errors, network failures, external threats, and other types of disruptions, the company asserts. The technology addresses block-level replication and application stack orchestration, the firm adds.
CloudEndure's partner program includes an MSP-enablement focus.
AWS Cloud Backup: Market Saturated?
The market for AWS- and multi-cloud data protection solutions is flooded with options. Most of the major MSP-centric backup companies offer some type of AWS, Azure and/or GCP support at this point. CloudBerry Lab has been one of the most aggressive third-party players in the market.
