It's been a busy week for our sister site, MSSP Alert, which is hosting its MSSP Alert Live event in Austin, Texas.

ConnectWise CISO Patrick Beggs presented MSSP Alert Live 2024’s opening keynote Tuesday morning, walking attendees through the company’s response to its ScreenConnect vulnerability crisis.

Beggs and Vice President of Corporate Communications Amanda Lee unveiled the critical steps the company took after the discovery of the vulnerability tracked as CVE-2024-1709, which has a maximum severity score of 10 and could enable attackers to achieve authentication bypass and gain administrative control over a ScreenConnect instance.

And AI continues to be a hot topic. A Tuesday afternoon panel of pioneers in using AI by managed service providers discussed real-world examples of how the technology can be a boon for MSPs and their customers. From providing more secure AI implementations to helping customers optimize the way they use AI, Blue Mantis Sr. Director of Advanced Technologies Jeff Cratty and PCH Technologies President and CEO Timothy Guim showed how MSPs can break into the AI space in valuable and innovative ways. And while some may be skeptical and feel it’s too early to jump on the AI hype train, Kristy Davis, founder of The Clarity Company, argues that MSPs will regret falling behind if they don’t start now.

“This is prime time – don’t lose the opportunity,” Davis said during the Q&A portion of the panel presentation, moderated by CyberRisk Alliance Editorial Director of Channel Brands Jessica C. Davis.

Today is the final day of the event, an annual gathering of MSSPs and security-minded MSPs. If you are in Austin, it’s not too late to register here and join us for our final full day of programming -- including some important presentations on cyberinsurance, cyber liability, FedRAMP and plenty more.
