Howdy, folks, and welcome to Wednesday.

The midmarket is tricky, especially when it comes to security, right? SMBs and enterprises have unique needs, but often, it's that nebulous middle ground that is overlooked. Well, Secureworks is trying to bridge that gap with a new midmarket-focused MDR solution.

You know what else is complex? Deciphering the legalese around global privacy regulations. But IANS Research has a new offering that is trying to simplify these issues and make sure CISOs, privacy and compliance teams can more easily understand the mandates and how to operationalize them. Pretty cool stuff.

Elsewhere in cybersecurity, AI-powered security solutions firm Guardz announced a new integration with ConnectWise PSA to help bolster security for MSPs through its Invent program.

And finally, the global PC market has rebounded in Q2 and Scott Goree has become Optiv's SVP of partners and alliances. Congratulations!

1. Optiv Names Scott Goree SVP, Partners and Alliances: Cybersecurity and advisory firm Optiv named Scott Goree as its senior vice president of partners and alliances. Goree is a veteran technology executive with more than two decades of experience overseeing global partner programs, distribution initiatives and sales, the company said in a statement. In this role, Goree leads Optiv’s ecosystem of more than 450 technology partners serving more than 6,000 clients. Goree joined Optiv from Skyhigh Security, where he served as vice president of global partners and head of Americas sales. As Skyhigh’s first-ever global channel chief, he successfully reinvented the partner program, driving channel-sourced revenue from 12% to over 30% in the first year, Optiv said. He was also instrumental in creating Skyhigh Technology Alliances, establishing new relationships with AWS and CrowdStrike. Previously, Goree served as senior director of worldwide distribution at Nutanix where he launched the Elevate distribution program. Goree graduated from the University of Maryland with degrees in management and computer studies. He is also a veteran of the U.S. Air Force where he served as a civil engineer. Goree remains committed to serving veterans and worked closely with Lifemoves.org, which is dedicated to breaking the cycle of homelessness in the San Francisco Bay Area. Congratulations!

According to the research, shipments of notebooks (including mobile workstations) hit 50 million units, growing 4%. Desktops (including desktop workstations), which constitute 20% of the total PC market, experienced a slight 1% growth, totaling 12.8 million units. 4. Guardz and ConnectWise PSA Partnership: AI-powered cybersecurity company Guardz last week announced a new partnership/collaboration and integration with ConnectWise. Guardz said in a statement it has successfully completed all required security certifications for integration with ConnectWise PSA APIs. The certification ensures high security standards and paves the way for new business opportunities for Guardz within the MSP community, the company said.

5. IANS Research Operationalizes Global Privacy Compliance Information: IANS, a Boston-based cybersecurity research and advisory firm, launched IANS Privacy Operations, a new subscription-based offering designed to help CISOs, privacy and compliance teams navigate global privacy regulations. As privacy concerns become increasingly critical, IANS provides essential resources to support organizations in assessing, creating, and implementing effective privacy policies. IANS Privacy Operations focuses on the operational side of privacy compliance and avoids the 'trap' of traditional legal guidance, which is often written by lawyers for lawyers (and can be convoluted and hard to understand). This ensures that security and privacy teams can implement necessary actions without deciphering complex legal language and can focus on what matters most, IANS Research said.
