ePlus has acquired Integrated Data Storage ("IDS"), a data center solutions provider in Chicago that has reach across the midwest. Financial terms were not disclosed.

The acquisition enhances ePlus’ sales and engineering capabilities in cloud services, disaster recovery and backup as a service, storage, data center, and professional services, the companies said.

IDS focuses much of its business on cloud enablement and managed services, including its proprietary IDS Cloud, which features enterprise-class technology infrastructure coupled with consulting services to support private, hybrid, and public cloud deployments, the company claims.

“Adding the talented IDS team to ePlus is a strong complement to our existing cloud, security, and digital infrastructure offerings,” Mark P. Marron, CEO of ePlus, said in a prepared statement. “The acquisition further solidifies our presence in the Midwest and strengthens our ability to create customized roadmaps, and then design, implement, service, and support our customers’ migration to and from public, private, or hybrid cloud environments. We look forward to continuing to help organizations deploy the most effective cloud strategy, optimize resources, and gain greater operational predictability, security, and flexibility—to thrive in today’s digital economy.”

IDS Cloud offers

  • cloud / PROTECT -  secure cloud backup solutions that range from fully managed to simple offsite retention of long-term backups.
  • cloud / RECOVER - highly reliable solutions to meet recovery point and recovery time objectives (RTOs and RPOs).
  • cloud / SCALE - archive services for non-critical data are flexible and can integrate directly with your applications, or extend your existing infrastructure via a gateway.
  • cloud / FLEX - infrastructure-as-a-service solutions that can meet today’s complex IT requirements. Building custom cloud environments and managed services models are what we do best.

ePlus Company Scale, Reach

ePlus had critical mass before the deal. The company's fiscal year 2017 net revenues were $1.3 billion and gross billings were $1.8 billion. ePlus has six integration centers and four managed services centers, according to the company's website.

ePlus is no stranger to mergers and acquisitions. The company in December 2016 acquired Consolidated Communications' IT services business unit, which is a well-known Cisco partner.
