Software asset management (SAM) company Flexera has acquired RISC Networks, an analytics platform provider based out of Asheville, North Carolina, for an undisclosed sum.

This marks Flexera’s fourth cloud optimization-based acquisition. It’s an M&A story that has seen the Itasca, Illinois-based firm grow from a software optimization platform to a company that covers the entire IT stack.

Most recently, the company acquired RightScale, in addition to MetaSaaS and BrainWare Group. This latest deal is expected to add cloud readiness to Flexera’s portfolio, the company said.

Jim Ryan, President and CEO of Flexera commented on the deal:

“Our Cloud Management Platform optimizes cloud usage for our customers and is well regarded by key industry analysts, including Gartner and Forrester. We’re always seeking to strengthen our capabilities in cloud migration—an area that’s becoming more of a focus for IT executives and analysts. With our acquisition of RISC Networks, we can help our customers even earlier in their journey to the cloud. We can now help them assess, prioritize and price which on-premise workloads they should migrate to the cloud.”

RISC Network’s clients include companies like CapGemini, IBM, Turner Broadcasting, Viacom, and more. The firm’s proprietary technology allows its customers move from on-premise to the cloud.
