HP Enterprise has acquired Cape Networks, which specializes in SaaS, application and network monitoring. Cape's technology will tuck into HPE's Aruba networking business unit.
Cape's target customer base includes MSPs that want to monitor and improve overall WiFi customer and user experience. But alas, HPE's official Cape buyout announcement focuses mainly on IT professionals and fails to mention the significant MSP opportunity.
Cape offers a "sensor-based and network agnostic approach to service assurance," HPE asserts. The platform allows customers and service providers to proactively test the availability and performance of services and applications, alerting IT professionals of issues before they impact the user or the business, HPE claims. The technology has synergies with Aruba NetInsight.
Key Cape adopters include the Indiana Pacers of the National Basketball Association and VAST Networks. The Pacers installed Cape sensors throughout Bankers Life Fieldhouse Arena, enabling the basketball franchise to monitor fans' WiFi experience in real-time, to detect, troubleshoot, and fix issues before fans complain, the Pacers indicated in July 2017.
Early Cape investors included Root Ventures along with the Highway1 accelerator program in San Francisco.
Cape, founded in 2014, will officially become part of HPE sometime in late March or early April 2018, the companies predicted. Financial terms were not disclosed.
HPE made the Cape Networks announcement during Aruba Atmosphere 2018, a major customer and partner conference this week in Las Vegas.
