MSP to MSSP Research: 80 Percent of Customers Rethinking Cybersecurity

Roughly 80 percent of small and midsize businesses are planning to change the way they manage their IT security over the next 12 months, according to research from SolarWinds MSP that surfaced today at the Empower MSP conference in Orlando, Florida.

The major shifts could include customers rethinking which cybersecurity services they retain in-house, what services they outsource -- and to whom. We'll be speaking with SolarWinds MSP leaders like John Pagliuca, Mike Cullen and Dave Sobel about the shifts over the next two days (Related: Podcast with Dave Sobel).

The MSP to MSSP Strategy: Got One?

That data point sets the stage for one of the biggest inflection points facing MSPs: It's time to sort out a cybersecurity strategy -- and perhaps even extend into full-blown managed security services. Those services will typically include, according to SolarWinds MSP's research:

  • Infrastructure
  • Data security
  • Risk/vulnerability management
  • Identity and Access Management
