PCM Technology Solutions UK, a subsidiary of PCM Inc. (PCMI), has acquired Provista Technology Services Ltd. and its subsidiary, Provista UK. The deal boosts PCMs's expertise across Cisco Systems, Avaya and VMWare solutions for cloud, networking, hyperconverged infrastructure (HCI) and security. The deal will also accelerate PCM UK's managed services and multi-lingual global service desk in the European region, the companies say.
Provista UK's revenues were roughly £7.7 million (about $10.62 million) for the fiscal year ended July 31, 2017. PCM expects the deal to be "mildly accretive to the PCM UK segment" for 2018.
Provista UK certainly was a tempting target. When Provista UK achieved Cisco Gold Certification, they became the only Cisco Gold partner to be headquartered in Scotland. To earn the coveted Gold Certification, Provista UK had to meet rigorous standards set forth by Cisco in networking competency, service, support and customer satisfaction. The company, while headquartered in Glasgow, Scotland has two additional locations in Aberdeen, Scotland, and Birmingham, England.
As a Cisco Gold Certified Partner, Provista UK has met the requirements by achieving Cisco advanced specializations in the four following areas:
- Enterprise networks architecture,
- Security architecture,
- Collaboration architecture,
- Data center architecture.
In addition, Provista UK has integrated Cisco Hybrid IT, the resale of cloud and managed services, into its offerings and is required to ensure high customer satisfaction in collaboration with Cisco. Being a Cisco Gold Certified partner has provided Provista UK with access to comprehensive sales, technical, and life-cycle services training and support available from Cisco.
Still, Provista UK isn't a one-trick pony. The company also has expertise and relationships in such areas as Avaya, Huawei and Checkpoint. Barry Oliver and Stuart Little, Directors for Provista UK, commented in a prepared statement, “The combined business compliments both organizations as PCM gains Cisco Gold Partner status in the UK, backed with Provista UK’s portfolio of services and solutions. Provista UK expects to leverage PCM’s wider investment in the UK and access to complementary markets and solutions.”
No jobs will be lost following the takeover and the board will remain in place to oversee further recruitment throughout the UK, including more jobs in Scotland to support the expansion, the companies say.
Parent PCMI of California, meanwhile, seems to be expanding its international footprint through these acquisitions. The company has also acquired Stack Technologies in the UK and Stratiform based in Canada over the last year.
