SageNet, a managed IT services provider (MSP) and cybersecurity specialist in Tulsa, Oklahoma, has acquired Aware Software -- a managed wireless infrastructure and security specialist in Atlanta. Financial terms were not disclosed, but Aware's annual revenues are about $23 million, the companies say.
Aware began its business as Wandering WiFi but rebranded in 2016 to reflect an Internet of Things (IoT) management push. The company's customer base extends across the hospitality, retail, restaurant, grocery, enterprise, healthcare, and education sectors. Aware claims that it developed “ground-breaking software platform” and is currently hosting pilot programs with several national retailers and health organizations.
According to SageNet, the deal will allow the companies to combine their respective strengths to deliver a more-robust portfolio of managed network solutions. “With this acquisition, SageNet can now deliver an even broader set of complimentary wireless network capabilities to our existing and future customers – everything from design, engineering and installation to best-in-class security and network management,” said Daryl Woodard, SageNet CEO.
Over the last two years, SageNet has made multiple growth-minded moves -- including acquiring a cybersecurity practice, expanding its U.S.-based Security Operations Centers (SOCs) and Network Operations Centers (NOCs), opening a National Logistics Center, and increasing its presence in the growing Digital Signage Sector, the company notes.
Following this deal, Alan Dabbiere, chairman of Aware Software, says the combined company will expand into reporting and analytics in an effort to position itself amidst the growing IoT and Analytics of Things markets.
The companies will continue to operate under their respective brand names until the business combination is fully completed.
