Syncro Bolsters its RMM and Automation Platform with Built-In Network Discovery

Today’s columnist, Amichai Shulman of Nokod Security, offers four tips for mitigating RPA security risks.

Syncro’s unified Remote Monitoring and Management (RMM) and Professional Services Automation (PSA) platform for MSPs now includes built-in network discovery capabilities that enable MSPs to easily manage their customers’ connected devices.

The addition of network discovery features to Syncro’s SaaS RMM and PSA platform was unveiled recently by the company to support mid-sized MSPs and IT departments to manage devices without relying on third-party tools or incurring additional expense.

Designed for MSP admins, technicians, and internal IT teams, the built-in network discovery capabilities enable users to automatically identify workstations, servers, printers, and other network-enabled devices. The new capabilities will also provide customizable discovery profiles, automated scans, and seamless agent deployment that will ease the network discovery processes. The new features are available immediately to Syncro’s Team Plan customers.

Dee Zepf, the chief product officer of Syncro, told ChannelE2E that MSPs had to buy separate third-party tools to perform network discovery for their clients. “Our customers indicated that they did not integrate well with their RMM platform, adding additional complexity to their operations. By including these features with Syncro’s RMM and PSA, there is no longer any need to add an additional expensive and complicated tool,” said Zepf.

The Syncro platform is a SaaS-based application that utilizes the built-in Syncro RMM agent for its network discovery feature, said Zepf. “This means MSPs and IT teams can access and utilize it from anywhere without needing to install or maintain additional software,” she added.

According to Syncro, the newly integrated network discovery tools offer several benefits including automated asset discovery onboarding and Syncro agent installations that reduce labor and setup times; improved data accuracy for a comprehensive view of all network devices; enhanced regulatory compliance for full inventory monitoring and network assets visibility; and reduced manual entry errors in asset tracking.

For MSPs, the new network discovery supports Syncro’s mission to provide cost-effective, scalable IT management applications to enable mid-sized MSPs streamline their operations and drive business growth for their customers.

This Will Be a Helpful Tool for MSPs, Says Analyst

Jack E. Gold, president and principal analyst at J.Gold Associates, LLC, told ChannelE2E that Syncro’s new network discovery features are likely to be well received by managed service providers (MSPs).

“Most smaller organizations manage their devices using Excel spreadsheets, which are often inaccurate,” Gold said. “Automated discovery is a much better approach—it not only identifies devices on the network but also enables agent installation on each one, allowing for effective asset management. This is particularly important for MSPs supporting a variety of remote clients.”

According to Gold, network discovery capabilities help MSPs get a clear count of managed devices, which in turn supports more accurate and strategic pricing. Additionally, with agents installed, MSPs can remotely manage updates, monitor device status, and more.

“This kind of visibility also provides MSPs with valuable insights into how devices are performing and being used, enabling them to offer more informed guidance to clients on managing their IT infrastructure,” he said.

While such features are common in enterprise-grade management systems, Gold noted they are less typical in SMB environments. “That makes this an attractive addition for smaller MSPs looking to enhance their toolkits,” he added.

Another analyst, Shelly Kramer of Kramer&Co., told ChannelE2E that she sees endpoint management as a critical tool today as the endpoint ecosystem grows at a rapid rate.

“The more things that are connected to the internet – think devices, wearables, sensors, smart home systems, manufacturing facilities, hospitals, smart buildings and cities, connected cars, etc. – the greater the need for endpoint management,” said Kramer. “For some perspective, it was estimated in September that there are some 17 billion devices connected to the internet, with that growth expected to reach 28 billion by the end of the decade … with each one gathering and transmitting data.”

Keeping track of those ever-growing numbers of endpoints “can result in alert fatigue for already lean IT teams, so It is no surprise to see a greater focus on and continuous innovation in the endpoint management sector – it is an imperative,” said Kramer. “The move by Syncro here is all about easing some very real burdens: the need to reduce the complexity of endpoint management while also delivering on the cost management front. I think this presents an attractive value proposition for the MSP community. “

But with competition being fierce in this market, “Syncro will need to lean in and deliver great marketing and communications, along with support for the channel from a sales enablement standpoint,” asserts Kramer.
