SevOne 2016 Layoffs: Job Cuts Expected in August

Share

SevOne is expected to experience layoffs as soon as Monday, August 1 -- which will potentially mark the second round of job cuts this year at the IT monitoring tool provider.

SevOne, which is popular among many MSPs and communication service providers, confirmed anticipated cuts to Delaware Online on July 29 but declined to offer more details. SevOne cut less than 10 percent of its workforce in an earlier layoff round during Q1 2016.

The cuts come less than a year after SevOne raised $50 million in Series C financing in September 2015. At the time, one of the VCs said SevOne would use the money to help "continue on their rapid growth trajectory" -- but clearly something has changed since that time.

By January 2016, SevOne hired a new CFO -- Rafe Brown, a veteran of Pegasystems, Salesforce.com and Cisco Systems. The first layoffs apparently occurred a few weeks thereafter.

SevOne MSPs, CSPs & Alliance Partners

SevOne customers include seven of the world’s 13 largest banks, enterprises, CSPs, MSPs and MSOs, the company asserts. Named customers on the CSP and MSP fronts include giants like Comcast, CSC and Verizon. SevOne also is ranked in Gartner's 2016 Magic Quadrant for Network Performance Monitoring and Diagnostics.

The latest SevOne layoffs apparently arrive just as the company builds out an alliance program -- dubbed the SevOne READY Program. The program, launched in July, allows

"technology providers to leverage their solutions and the open interfaces of the SevOne Digital Infrastructure Management Platform to help drive its customers’ journey to the cloud. Program participation will allow partners to create integrated offerings in key areas including software-defined networking environments, datacenter server and storage, hybrid cloud, business analytics, the Internet of Things and more."

Participating alliance vendors include Cisco, Ciena, Dell, Gigamon, HP Enterprise, Ixia, Juniper Networks, Pure Storage, and Viptela, the company said at the time.

SevOne: Monitoring SDN, NFV, SDDC

Among SevOne's core focus areas: Making sure its monitoring tools assist CSPs and MSPs amid the transition new mobile technologies (4G LTE) and virtualization technologies such as software-defined networks (SDN), network functions virtualization (NFV), and software-defined data centers (SDDC).

ChannelE2E has not independently confirmed the SevOne layoffs and will update this story as more information becomes available.
