Rob MerklingerIntronis VP of Sales Rob Merklinger has exited the MSP-centric cloud backup provider to join Salary.com as senior VP of sales, according to his LinkedIn profile. Merklinger's exit comes nearly four months after Barracuda Networks acquired Intronis.
Intronis confirmed Merklinger's exit to ChannelE2E. Merklinger led the Intronis sales team for five years. A new sales leader will be appointed soon, according to a company spokeswoman. In the interim, GM Rick Faulk is leading the company's sales directors, the spokeswoman added.
Intronis and parent Barracuda Networks continue to promote a channel-first business strategy that now spans storage and security offerings for VARs and MSPs. Key Intronis executive leaders have remained in place since Barracuda emerged to acquired the company in late September 2015.
Meanwhile, sources speculate that Merklinger may be working directly or indirectly with Kent Plunkett, himself a former Intronis and Salary.com CEO. IBM sold the Salary.com business back to the original owners a few weeks ago.
