CompuCom Systems layoffs will eliminate about 144 positions, according to the Dallas Morning News. The CompuCom layoffs, set for March 6, come as the MSP and IT consulting firm prepares to move its headquarters from Texas to South Carolina -- though the cuts are not related to the office move.
Instead, the cuts involve shifting IT service desk operations from Plano, Texas to offices in Kentucky, Mexico City and Canada, the newspaper said. Overall, CompuCom has roughly 11,500 employees, so the cuts represent only about 1.2 percent of employees.
Generally speaking, ChannelE2E hasn't seen many IT-related layoffs in recent weeks. And in the MSP sector, most service providers seem to be reporting continued growth, according to a recent Kaseya MSP Global Pricing 2017 report. Moreover, CompTIA is launching an IT Pro organization to help close the IT talent gap.
