N2W Software, a provider of cloud-native data protection and disaster recovery for Amazon Web Service (AWS) had a busy week. Indeed, the company closed a new round of funding, confirmed new board and leadership members, and unveiled a partnership with Veeam. Many of the moves were discussed this week during VeeamOn 2017 in New Orleans.

For starters, the West Palm Beach, Florida-based company closed a round of funding led by global private equity and venture capital firm Insight Venture Partners. The financial figure was not disclosed. N2W will use the money for product R&D and operations.

To that end, the company will expand its development center in Haifa, Israel and expand sales and marketing in West Palm Beach, according to N2W Director of Marketing Ezra Charm. “Both those locations are being built out and expanded, and looking to hire talented individuals,” he tells ChannelE2E.

Board and Leadership Updates

Along with the cash influx came some new nameplates for the office door.

Ratmir Timashev

Coming on board as CEO and COO, respectively, are Jason Judge and Andy Langsam. Judge was previously CEO of 5Nine Software, Veriato, and ScriptLogic. Langsam was part of the LOGICnow team that SolarWinds acquired in 2016. Earlier, he worked for SciptLogic, which Quest Software acquired.

And in a major win, Veeam co-founder Ratmir Timashev has joined N2W’s board of directors. Timashev is highly respected in the backup and disaster recovery industry, and Charm says his presence on the board will help N2W grow through the next stage of its development.

Strategic Partnerships

Not by coincidence, Veeam and N2W are building a closer partnership. An integration between N2W’s Cloud Protection Manager and Veeam enables customers to move data from AWS to a Veeam repository, allowing for a hybrid approach to operational backup and cross-platform disaster recovery.

The Veeam relationship should help to raise N2W's visibility. "As we evolve as a company independently, Veeam is going to be able to expose our technology to their gigantic user base of 200,000-plus companies,” Charm says. “It's a great story for them, too, because it lets them get into the world of Amazon Web Services with an already established technology."

N2W has offered channel-focused solutions since 2013, primarily selling through the AWS marketplace. The product is a monthly subscription service, but Charm says the company sees very little churning amongst its customers. “People really seem to understand what it does and have really adopted it,” he says. “It makes the management of Amazon Web Services really easy."
