Workspace-as-a-service (WaaS) provider CloudJumper has launched a ground-to-cloud customer onboarding solution for MSPs, cloud services providers (CSPs) and IT solution providers.

The solution, JumpStart, is designed to automate customer onboarding. It is integrated with the my.CloudJumper partner portal and provides users with orchestration of on-premise discovery, price quoting and the provisioning of IT workspaces in the cloud via the CloudJumper nWorkSpace WaaS platform.

"JumpStart takes WaaS deployment speed to the next level with ground-to-cloud deployment acceleration," CloudJumper Chief Sales Officer Max Pruger said in a prepared statement. "The solution overcomes many of the installation challenges that are commonly found with legacy products which slow time to revenue."

A Closer Look at JumpStart

With JumpStart, channel partners can provision nWorkSpace WaaS environments by reviewing a customer's IT environment and mirroring customer landscape data within a cloud-based workspace. They also can provision new WaaS accounts "with unprecedented speed and accuracy," CloudJumper said in a prepared statement.

JumpStart capabilities include:

  • Employee-specific application and data set uploads.
  • Replication of security permissions from a physical IT environment to a WaaS infrastructure.
  • Ability to upload client computing content via the CloudJumper portal.
  • Automated processes to accelerate customer onboarding.

JumpStart will become generally available to existing nWorkSpace partners for free in the second quarter of this year.

CloudJumper Acquires WaaS IT Services Business Unit

CloudJumper has been growing organically and via M&A. The company in January acquired an IT services business unit that included 52 MSP and independent software vendor (ISV) partners that deploy WaaS and/or cloud application delivery solutions. Although CloudJumper did not disclose the seller's name or the price, the business unit includes MSPs and ISVs that leverage the IndependenceIT WaaS platform.

The acquisition represents "a win for the MSPs and ISVs involved," CloudJumper noted at the time. In addition, the transaction could help CloudJumper increase its WaaS industry market share, according to the company.

"We believe this move aligns with our stated goal of strategically expanding within the channel," CloudJumper President JD Helms said in a company statement.

WaaS Demand Grows

Expect the demand for WaaS to increase over the next several years.

Markets and Markets has projected the WaaS market will expand at a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 14.9 percent between 2014 and 2019. The market research firm also has projected the WaaS sector will be worth $9.41 billion by 2019.

The WaaS market evolved from the more traditional desktop as a service (DaaS) and VDI (virtual desktop infrastructure) sectors. Although those early markets had some successes and failures, WaaS has been gaining ground thanks to maturing technologies and business models.
