A. Today’s Tech, Channel and MSP News
1. ConnectWise MSP Threat Report - MSP platform provider ConnectWise’s fifth annual MSP Threat Report, which looks at key security incidents and trends from the past 12 months, has illuminated heightened risks stemming from outdated software, vulnerabilities associated with remote work environments, and an alarming surge in the frequency and impact of ransomware attacks.
2. Old vulnerabilities still discovered - And speaking of vulnerabilities, another report has found that critical vulnerabilities from as far back as 2015 are still being discovered and leveraged today by malicious actors. The finding comes from a report by Edgescan, an international provider of risk-based vulnerability management and penetration testing.
3. Women in STEM scholarship - Navisite, part of Accenture, is launching its fourth annual Navisite's Next Steminist Scholarship U.S. program. Designed to encourage young women to pursue careers in STEM (science, technology, engineering, and math), the program will award three $10,000 scholarships to eligible female candidates pursuing a degree in STEM. Applications are now being accepted through May 17, 2024.
4. Database funding - Aerospike has scored $109M in funding from Sumeru Equity Partners to meet increasing AI and enterprise demand for vector and graph databases. The total was $114M and the majority ($109M) came from lead investor Sumeru.
5. Automation vendor launches channel program - Tines, a no-code automation platform, is launching a channel partner program as the company seeks to accelerate its growth with the channel and recruit more reseller and MSSP partners. The company emphasizes that it’s been working with partners all along, but the program now offers a free platform to deliver additional support that solutions and service partners need.
