New Canalys research showed that, in Q3 2024, global spending on cloud infrastructure services increased by 21% year-over-year, reaching US$82.0 billion. Customer investment in the hyperscalers’ AI offerings fueled growth, prompting leading cloud vendors to escalate their investments in AI.
The rankings of the top three cloud vendors – AWS, Microsoft Azure, and Google Cloud – remained stable from the previous quarter, with these providers together accounting for 64% of total expenditure, according to the research. Total combined spending with these three providers grew by 26% year-over-year, and all three reported sequential growth.
Amazon Web Services (AWS) maintained its lead in the global cloud market in Q3 2024, capturing a 33% market share and achieving 19% year-on-year revenue growth.
Microsoft Azure remains the second-largest cloud provider, with a 20% market share and impressive annual growth of 33%, Canalys said.
Google Cloud, the third-largest provider, maintained a 10% market share, achieving robust year-on-year growth of 36%, according to the Canalys research.

1. Sophos, Cysurance partner on Canadian expansion: Canadian businesses will have greater access to cyber insurance through an expanded partnership between cybersecurity firm Sophos and cyber insurance vendor Cysurance, the companies announced today. Sophos Managed Detection and Response (MDR) customers in Canada will have access to lower cyber insurance rates and premiums from Cysurance, as is already the case with the companies' existing U.S. and Australia partnerships.
2. Nasuni enhances partner program: Hybrid cloud data platform Nasuni launched an enhanced partner program designed to offer a more robust and supportive framework for its growing community of global technology partners, MSPs, and resellers, the company said in a statement. The program introduces a tiered structure and a suite of enablement and support resources to help partners thrive in today’s dynamic hybrid cloud environment.
3. Wiz, Exabeam partner for threat detection and response: Exabeam and Wiz announced today a partnership that will provide organizations with improved threat detection, investigation, and response (TDIR) capabilities. Combining cloud security intelligence from Wiz with AI-powered analytics from Exabeam will help security teams defend against evolving threats, the companies said. With the Wiz integration, customers will gain cloud security insights and streamlined onboarding to the Exabeam New-Scale Platform. The collaboration will integrate Wiz's risk visibility with Exabeam's AI-driven behavioral analytics to allow teams to see trends of attack paths and remediation over time.
4. Nucleus Security expands channel program: Vulnerability management solutions firm Nucleus Security announced today the expansion of its Nucleus Security Partner Program (NSPP). Building on its foundational channel program, Nucleus has added a tiered structure with associated requirements and benefits, launched a new certification program and partner portal, and expanded its channel team to better support partners in marketing the Nucleus Security platform and associated services to their customers.
5. Mitel launches AI-powered CX platform: Mitel this week launched an AI-powered customer experience (CX) management platform, Mitel CX, designed to help organizations enhance customer engagement processes and drive employee efficiency, the company said in a statement.
