You can hardly talk about cybersecurity today without also mentioning artificial intelligence (AI) — so expect to hear plenty on the subject during MSSP Alert Live, October 14-16 at the Hyatt Regency in Austin, Texas.

If the relationship between AI and cybersecurity is on your mind, then you’ll want to attend the MSSP Alert Live speaker session, "How to Understand and Protect Against AI-Enabled Cyber Attacks."
Leading the session is Kevin McGrail, cloud fellow and principal evangelist at DitoWeb, a Google cloud security partner.
How the Bad Guys are Using AI
Why should you attend the session? McGrail told MSSP Alert what’s in store.
“Too many people don't know enough about AI, how it works or how to protect against cybersecurity threats that are amplified by bad actors' ability to use AI,” he said. “Since 1996, I've been tracking bad actors, using AI, and publishing threat data. In my session, I'll help explain the impact of AI on cybersecurity, discuss some of the risks and present ways to minimize the risks of AI-enabled cyberattacks.”
McGrail noted that the session is suitable for everyone from beginners to experts.
AI a Tool for Cybercriminals
Cybercriminals have embraced AI just as fast, if not faster, than those of us who use AI for defense or other legitimate purposes. McGrail’s session will offer a primer on “what is AI” and how it impacts the “CIA” triad security model of confidentiality, integrity, availability. The session will include a discussion of problems involving AI policy and new shadow IT threat AI tools.
In addition, attendees will:
- Gain a clearer understanding of AI and its components, such as machine learning, plus a greater understanding of ethical AI and why it is needed.
- Learn why you can benefit from “thinking evil” and how to use threat modeling in your cybersecurity defense.
- Find out more about how bad actors use AI, and how you can counter that with your own AI cybersecurity defense.
