- Recession? What Recession?: A majority of business economists say the odds of the U.S. entering a recession in the next year is 50% or less, according to a National Association for Business Economics survey. Also, for the first time since 2021, a majority of respondents report that wages at their firms were unchanged in the most recent quarter while 47% reported rising wages. That’s much lower than the 63% that reported rising wages in the April survey.
- Exchange Online Attack Worse Than First Appeared: The China-linked threat actors that stole U.S. State Department and other Microsoft customer emails may have acquired access to apps other than Exchange Online and Outlook.com, according to Wiz Research. The researchers say the compromised signing key was more potent than it first appeared to be and was not restricted to those two services.
- New Boss for Canada Expansion: Global Fintech service provider Broadridge Financial Solutions, Inc. has appointed Karin Yorfido as President of Broadridge Canada. Yorfido succeeds Michael Dignam who will become Vice Chairman of Broadridge Canada, taking on an advisory role. The company said it is making the changes to meet the continued growth of the Canadian market.
- SoftwareOne Strategic Business Review Planned: Swiss IT services giant SoftwareOne has launched a strategic review of its business after rejecting an improved takeover offer from private equity firm Bain Capital. The company said in a statement that it will explore all options to create value for its investors, including continuing to operate as a public company or via a sale or merger.
- Relationship Expansion: Cognizant is expanding its relationship with biopharmaceutical company Gilead Sciences. Under the agreement, Cognizant will manage Gilead's global IT infrastructure, platforms, applications and advanced analytics, and lead initiatives designed to accelerate its digital transformation. The agreement includes renewal and expansion of Cognizant services for a total expected value of $800 million over the next five years.
