Today’s Technology and MSP Partner Program News

  1. ConnectWise sale update -- nothing new: ConnectWise CEO Jason Magee reportedly said that he meets with bankers on a monthly basis and the company he leads, which is private equity-owned, is in a timeline to be acquired. But there’s no news about an actual acquisition or recapitalization or IPO. Previously ChannelE2E had heard that the company had gone to Wall Street first and then the PE firm Bain Capital was a top contender as an acquirer. All that talk has cooled off now, and it’s unclear whether a deal will be struck or if Thoma Bravo, ConnectWise's current owner, will get the return that it wants if it sells now.
  2. SolarWinds partner program successes: SolarWinds rolled out an updated partner program at its partner event in Austin in March, and now the company provided ChannelE2E with some numbers around that program. SolarWinds reports a 15% year-over-year growth for its worldwide channel. A full 21% of channel-initiated bookings are for new business. IT Service Management (ITSM) channel-initiated bookings are up 17%. And channel initiated tools bookings are up 28%.
  3. Google partner plans generative AI solutions: Google Premier Partner 66degrees is partnering with Google Cloud to develop new generative AI solutions, the company announced. The company plans to develop solutions for education, customer experience, and customer support using Google Cloud’s foundation models and generative AI capabilities in Vertex AI.
  4. SaaS security priorities: The Cloud Security Alliance and Adaptive Shield has released its SaaS Security Survey Report: 2024 Plans & Priorities. The survey of 1,000-plus C-level security executives and professionals, revealed that 55% of organizations have recently experienced a SaaS security incident, resulting in ransomware, malware, data breaches, or other consequences.
  5. New boss at ECI: Managed services and cybersecurity provider to the global financial services industry, ECI, has appointed Jeff Schmidt as president and CEO. Schmidt was the founding CEO of Avertium, a provider of cybersecurity services. He previously held management positions at SQS, All Covered, and British Telecom.
