AvePoint Launches Salesforce Cloud Backup, Recovery for MSPs

AvePoint has extended beyond Microsoft 365 and Dynamics 365 backup and disaster recovery (BDR) to promote  Salesforce Cloud Backup to MSP channel partners.

AvePoint says the Salesforce Cloud Backup solution empowers MSPs with:

  • Unlimited, automated backup for Salesforce assets;
  • granular restore options;
  • encrypted, hyper-scaled and secure data protection; and
  • visibility, delegation and control capabilities.

The Avepoint announcement did not mention pricing for the Salesforce cloud backup platform.

Avepoint's Salesforce Cloud Backup: Executive Perspectives

In a prepared statement about the launch, John Peluso, chief product officer at AvePoint, said:

"Most native backup solutions offered by SaaS providers today cannot meet customers' recovery point and recovery time objectives, and are labor-intensive for end-users. We believe that as companies leverage more cloud-based technologies and produce more business-critical data, they need products like ours delivered by partners to mitigate risk in a comprehensive and effortless fashion."

Added Jason Beal, senior VP of global channel and partner ecosystems at AvePoint.

"Even with an increase in digital collaboration and associated data risks, more than half of small businesses, the end-users relevant to our MSP partners, are not prepared for data loss. We've spent two decades building the most robust third-party SaaS backup infrastructure available today, and now we're proud to help MSPs leverage this service to create not only a valuable, but increasingly vital, solution for their customers."

Beal is well-known across MSP partner ecosystems. He previously held key posts at Palo Alto Networks and Ingram Micro.

Salesforce Cloud: SaaS Backup Options

Salesforce discontinued its own data recovery service in July 2020 -- leaving the door open for multiple backup providers to fill the Salesforce data protection void.

Key options include Kaseya’s Spanning, Odaseva and OwnBackup which raised $167.5 million in Series D funding in January of 2021. Moreover, Druva acquired sfApex — a Salesforce BDR software provider — in November 2020.

Additional SaaS backup platforms for MSPs, such as Barracuda Cloud-to-Cloud Backup, Datto SaaS Protection and N-able Backup -- focus more specifically on Microsoft 365 and/or Google Worksplace (formerly G Suite).
