Our MSP business readers at ChannelE2E know the importance of selling cybersecurity, particularly in 2024, as SMBs look to their providers for help with cybersecurity insurance, compliance, and protection against a changing threat landscape and ransomware. With that in mind, each week, ChannelE2E brings you a wrap-up of the best stories from our affiliate site, MSSP Alert. Here's this week’s roundup.
Stellar Cyber this week is incorporating four distinct technologies — machine learning (ML), graph ML, generative AI and hyper-automation — all in a single, unified platform with the purpose of improving threat detection and reducing response time.
ASM vendor IONIX is introducing a global partner program and has just appointed two new channel execs. The company is part of a growing field of channel-friendly ASM vendors that also includes NetSPI, CyCognito, Randori, Bishop Fox and Armis.
There's a new small business solution from Hughes Network Systems, a broadband internet provider (“Hughesnet”) that’s popular in rural communities, which also operates as both an MSSP and MSP. Hughes has been featured as a Top 250 MSSP for the last three years.

Multi-Layer AI Innovation From Stellar Cyber Debuts
Open XDR specialist Stellar Cyber is incorporating four distinct technologies — machine learning (ML), graph ML, generative AI and hyper-automation — all in a single, unified platform with the purpose of improving threat detection and reducing response time.
Stellar Cyber’s launch of its Multi-Layer AI capability this week effectively applies AI at multiple steps in the detection, correlation and response process to reduce alert volume, prioritize and correlate threats, counsel analysts and respond automatically, according to the company.
“We have always focused on using AI in our platform, and we have led our SecOps platform competitors in this area since 2018,” Aimei Wei, founder and Chief Technology Officer of Stellar Cyber, told MSSP Alert. “Our Multi-Factor AI is an industry first because it leverages four different types of AI in one platform. We’re the only ones who do that. “
Stellar Cyber’s aim is to make AI consumable and easy to buy. Wei notes that this is an important distinction for MSSPs because it makes detection and response much faster and easier.
MSSPs Get New ASM Option as IONIX Intros Channel Program
MSSPs and MSPs looking to add attack surface management (ASM) to their stacks or add-on services portfolios have another option to consider as ASM vendor IONIX is introducing a global partner program and has just appointed two new channel execs. The company is part of a growing field of channel-friendly ASM vendors that also includes NetSPI, CyCognito, Randori, Bishop Fox and Armis.
Given the growth in cyber threats, adding ASM as a service may be smart for MSSPs and MSPs. For 2023 the global ASM market size was estimated at $980.4 million and is projected to grow at a CAGR (compound annual growth rate) of 31.3% from 2024 to 2030, according to Grand View Research.
IONIX executives said they introduced the global partner program with a strong emphasis on MSSPs because of the increasing market demand for ASM across North America, EMEA and APAC.
“The program enables MSSPs to efficiently manage their end-customers and elevate their service offerings to new prospects,” Gilad Friedman, vice president of Global Channels, told MSSP Alert. “Our comprehensive training and support will help MSSPs develop a unique external attack surface management practice, as well as strengthen existing services."
MSSP 250 Company, Hughes Network Systems, Debuts Down Market Cybersecurity Strategy
The “mom-and-pop” type of small businesses that make up so much of the U.S. economy are certainly not immune to ransomware and malware attacks and other types of breaches. However, they might not make cybersecurity a priority or feel they have the financial means to retain the services of an MSSP.
Enter the new small business solution from Hughes Network Systems, a broadband internet provider (“Hughesnet”) that’s popular in rural communities, which also operates as both an MSSP and MSP. Hughes has been featured as a Top 250 MSSP for the last three years.
Hughes says the small business package from Hughes Managed Cybersecurity provides end customers with an affordable, enterprise-grade cybersecurity solution that includes an automatic wireless backup connection. Powered by Fortinet's Next-Generation Firewall, the solution continually protects business networks and data against threats across connected devices, including PCs, laptops, smartphones and various IoT devices like smart cameras and sensors.
Dan Rasmussen, senior vice president of the Hughes Enterprise Division, pointed to research showing that 46% of all cyber breaches impact businesses with fewer than 1,000 employees.
MSSP Vendors Bring AI Advancements to Black Hat USA
Black Hat USA in Las Vegas this week has had no shortage of cybersecurity companies announcing new AI-powered solutions, many of them with MSSPs in mind. MSSP Alert has covered many of these in this week's MSSP Market News. And we are providing a deeper dive into a few solutions here.
One such vendor is D3 Security, a smart security orchestration, automation, and response (SOAR) specialist, who announced the release of Ace AI.
Ace AI adds new capabilities to D3’s Smart SOAR platform, which applies AI to make security operations faster and more intuitive, the company said. Smart SOAR performs autonomous triage and reduces false positives so that MSSPs and security teams can spend more time on real threats, D3 said.
